According to the first ranking World Best Cities prepared by Resonance Consultancy and throughout a careful analysis and comparison of 23 different factors of each city, among which there are competitive identity, community welfare and future prosperity, Barcelona occupied the third position in Europe and the eighth in the world. Two other Spanish cities listed are Madrid (eleventh place in the world) and Valencia (86th place).
As declared by Resonance Consultancy, it is the most complete classification of cities on the planet because it is based on an original methodology, which includes the opinions of both city guests and its residents. In this ranking Barcelona has been characterized as an «almost ideal» European city due to its «eclectic mix of beach, architecture and bohemian vibrations»; and its «striking, often surrealist architecture».
About the Spanish capital Resonance Consultancy says that in Madrid «everything old is new» and that it is a city «capable of reinventing itself and looking into the future».
The top 10 cities appeared in the ranking are the following: London, New York, Paris, Moscow, Tokyo, Singapore, Dubai, Barcelona, San Francisco and Chicago.
